How and where can I donate?

A hunter can donate an entire deer or a portion of a deer. To make certain the animal you donate will provide quality meat, you should follow the guidelines listed in the "Field to Fork" brochure (PDF).

Donations must be handled by an MDA approved processor.

Prepare to donate your deer before going hunting so that once you have field dressed your deer, you know what to do.

Review the list of MDA-approved processors to choose one convenient for you. Food shelves can only accept venison processed by someone on this list.

1. Contact a participating food shelf close to the processor to see: 

• If they wish to receive the venison
• If they can pick up your donated venison from the MDA approved processor.
• How they would like it packaged.

1. Go hunting and have a great time.
2. After you field dress your deer:

• bring it to the processor and fill out the short donation forms
• give them information on how to contact the food shelf when the meat is ready.
• Have a safe trip home and thank you for your donation!
