Bring Back Minnesota's Wolf Hunting & Trapping Season

wolfbanner

Minnesota's gray wolf population has recovered, and when federal protections are removed, Minnesota should be ready to manage wolves again.

Minnesota's current Wolf Management Plan already provides a framework for regulated wolf hunting and trapping. Minnesota successfully held wolf seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and MDHA helped advocate for those opportunities.

Petition Statement

We call on Minnesota's Governor, Legislature and DNR to:

  • Support returning wolf management authority to Minnesota.
  • Establish a regulated wolf hunting and trapping season when federal delisting allows it and biological data support it.
  • Ensure wolf population estimates account for the true and expanding range of wolves across Minnesota.
  • Give hunters, trappers, landowners and rural Minnesotans a strong voice in wolf management.

MDHA is also sponsoring Wolf.Report, a one-of-a-kind, hunter-powered wolf monitoring project using trail-camera photos and sightings to document where wolves are actually occurring across Minnesota.

See a wolf? Report it. Your observations can help document Minnesota's changing wolf range and strengthen the information used in future management decisions.

A wolf season isn't about eliminating wolves.

It's about responsibly managing a recovered population.

SIGN THE PETITION. REPORT YOUR WOLVES. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.

Delist. Manage. Hunt.
